Welcome to the Maniacs Attempting Robot Science!!!
We are a group of homeschooled students from the Wichita Falls, TX area and surrounding communities. We are a part of a cooperative education environment called Home Educators Around Texoma (HEAT). Our students comprise the Maniacs Attempting Robot Science (MARS) team to compete in the BEST Robotics, Inc. (BRI) robot competition. BRI is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization whose mission is to inspire students to pursue careers in engineering, science, and technology through participation in a sports-like, science and engineering-based robotics competition. Our theme for 2008 is “Just Plane Crazy!” and it is pretty crazy! Our mission objective is to build a robot that can deliver airplane parts from the hangar to the assembly area to, you guessed it, assemble the aircraft. Once the plane is completed, we are to transport the aircraft to the flight deck and attempt liftoff by lifting it approximately four feet in the air and attaching it to a magnetic mobile suspended above the playing field. We have three minutes to do so and we have a total of two airplanes available to us to build. We’re going to give it our “best” shot this year. Game day is October 25 at Gunter High School so mark your calendars! View Larger Map |
